I opted for my superfood shake. Trying to be smart. It's anti-inflammatory.

My birthday is Saturday. Will be celebrating in sober style. A long trip to the Russian baths will be in order.

Enjoy the weekend sober soldiers.

Graham cracker sounds better than digestive biscuit. Sorry MantaLady.

Please to tell what the Russian Baths are, lessgravity?

Haha, in terms of a name I never understood why it was called a digestive, it's not a very appealing name at all....but they are super scrummy and if crushed up and mixed with melted butter make a great biscuit base for a cheesecake..."drool"

Hope you have a super day on your birthday Less! xx

Hm. I could actually go to those...I live close! Sounds like fancy saunas? Remember the hot tubs places down on 45th (or was it 50th?) I used to live close to those. Now I shudder at what diseases may have been growing there.

The ones in Brooklyn are NOT fancy - but they are terrific. A real treat for a sober person as you feel like you took ambient or vailum or something afterwards.

Supposedly terrific health benefits they say as well.

I’ve got to get off my surfing butt and get cleaning!

There are 40 people coming over to our house for a cookout tonight (pouring rain and all). I’ve meanwhile frittered the morning away!

Thanks Gilmer 😊 hi weekenders...

I made a deeply regretful decision whilst intoxicated which could have ruined my life. I am able to move on from it because I know that I learnt from that mistake...nearly a year sober is the proof. Instead of putting my energy into hating myself I directed it into my sobriety and ensuring that I will never make that mistake again. I know that something positive has come from making that awful mistake and that helps me move on.

Sorry to hear about your cat biminiblue 💜

Had to look it up...

'' Digestive biscuit. ... The digestive was first developed in 1839 by two Scottish doctors to aid digestion at a place called Logie Steading in Forres. The term "digestive" is derived from the belief that they had antacid properties due to the use of sodium bicarbonate when they were first developed.''

Woah!! What the heck is that? Looks a bit like a scone...

When I went to the US we kept seeing signs for "biscuits and gravy" which to a brit sounds all kinds of wrong lol

That is a proper Southern Biscuit. Not a cookie. That is a proper vessel for jam, preserves, cheese, ham, bacon, eggs, sausage, or any combination you want. I have been known to put vegetables in one and take it for lunch when fishing. Biscuits and cornbread are our staffs of life.

ETA: I forgot to address "biscuits and gravy". There are two versions. One is a cream gravy made from sausage drippings and preferably with little chunks of sausage. The other is red-eye gravy. This is made with the drippings from frying salt-cured ham. You fry the ham, then deglaze the pan with coffee. You pour a little on a saucer and sop it with a proper southern biscuit and thank god you found out about this while crying in joy.
