I'm 3 days sober from alcohol.
I was in the deepest place I've ever been in my life. Probably a rock bottom.
I reached out to a friend that's been sober for 4 years and he helped me realize what I need to do. Also confided in my mom about how bad it had become, she had no idea as we are usually quite good at covering up our dark side and putting on a happy face. I was anyhow.
Only 3 days in, my brain is so much more clear (surprising as I'm not sleeping well) and I have a newfound sense of hope and future happiness again.
I'm so ready to overcome this awful addiction. I'm taking one day at a time.
I've had to overpower that little voice saying "just one more time, you're only a few days in.. what's the big deal?" Or..
"Just grab one bottle of wine so u can sleep tonight."
It feels good to be stronger than my very recent past weak self. I don't want to be that person anymore. I want my life back. I want to LIVE again!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I'm looking forward to this new journey.

Well done Angela and welcome. The people here on SR are the nicest and most supportive, (that I've found anyway), anywhere on the net. Good for you for taking this step and I hope that we hear lots more about your new life. P.S. In my personal experience too, Caralara is 100% right about the sleep x

Hello and welcome. You'll find a lot of support here.
Don't let your mind tell you that it's okay to drink again because you feel better.
I fought that for years.
Remember, you never have to drink again.

Best to you and stick around.

Welcome to SR Angeladda. 3 days is a huge accomplishment - especially the first 3. You'll find lots of support here, in addition to wisdom and understanding. I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Welcome, Angela! I am very glad you are here--SR is a wonderful place for advice and support from good people who understand. It's been a huge part of my getting and staying sober, and joining the Class of May is an excellent idea.
In time your sleep will improve along with every single aspect of your life.
Wishing you all the best on your sober journey.

It's great to have you with us, Angeladda. The encouragement I found here helped me heal from a 30 yr. addiction. You never have to feel alone. Congratulations on making the decision to get free and change your life.
