The thinking patterns straighten out with continuous sobriety. I couldn't put two positive thoughts together in early sobriety either .

Just stop drinking. Give it a few months, not a few days. The trauma? I could write a book on my past trauma, and addiction didn't solve any of that it just kept me in a negative self-pitying loop. Sobriety made it possible to work through the past. I hope you'll give it effort and time.

You have the power to heal yourself. Keep seeking.

this is just not true Laura.

Your inner addict, or what some call AV (addictive voice) is throwing everything it can at you to get you to go back to drinking.

You can learn to distinguish that AV - it's anything that wants you to go back to a self destructive life.
