Good to see you U2E and Carlotta!

The travails of travelling on London's Underground rail network Part 1. Travelling in this morning on a crowded train the person standing next to me was extremely "whiffy." Part 2. I got on the train home and next to me in a packed train was a man with a full size railway sleeper!

full size railway sleeper!
*sigh*

Ah! edit to say "railway sleeper" I thought was a bed of some sort. Apparently it is what we call a railway tie.

Off to look up railway tie....in an Australian dictionary.

EDIT: OK, so it's a railway sleeper in Aus too.....who knew? Not me, that's for sure.

It's a bloody big heavy piece of wood covered in creosote. I cannot work out how he got through ticket barriers, escalators etc . I am baffled as to what he might use one for, the base for some property boundary marker perhaps?

BTW if anyone is wondering why I didn't just ask it is illegal to talk to strangers on the trains in London (practically) Even eye contact is frowned upon.

Hmm, I would not do well in London then....I don't remember it being like that 30 years ago...people were nice to me on the tube. But sure, I was young and a woman.

Hi, weekenders!

I am back from work.

My trip wasn't that eventful as Sao's)

And I had to consult a dictionary because, like Bim, I thought that it is some kind of sleeping bag designed for railway trips

You live, you learn))))

I have a friend who travels a lot and swears by the sleeping pods in airports.

Airport Sleeping Pods

WHY didn't I think to invent that? Oh, maybe because I don't travel much any more. I think you can rent them hourly.

I vaguely recall that sleeping pods first started in Japan for the benefit of drunken salarymen. MesaMan would probably know.

haha at the term "Japanese drunk salarymen."

Like Londoners and Seattleites don't need them too.

So funny. When I was looking for an image that would post, I ran across images of those pods on city streets. Might help for drink-driving. Or it may just help the hookers. Regardless, it's #TinyHomesTemporary.

Venus those pods are in a few airports. You can Google it or clickety on that link in my post; which is from 2015, so there's probably more.

sleeper=tie=crosstie down here. I've built a lot of raised beds with them. Damn near permanent installations.

Lol! Not entirely Venus, they are called guerrilla signs and crop up all over the network.
