One year
One year
365 days ago, I woke up shaky, bloated, sick & terrified. The day before I couldn't even finish an easy bike ride I was so unsteady. I was afraid I was going to fall over from the shakes.
So I decided to go on a 30 day challenge, no booze, just for 30 days.
Not only was I getting seriously ill, it was dulling my creativity, screwing with my productivity & robbing me of my independence.
It wasn't easy. I was a daily drinker for 30 plus years. I loved to drink. I didn't think I could be me without it.
But here I am. I had a good bawling session yesterday, because I was going to make it to a year. I'm proud of myself.
So here's to another 365 days of clearer skin, brighter eyes & a flatter stomach (still working on the stomach). But it will happen, because we can do anything if we really, really want to.
Big hugs & kisses to all of you on SR. I couldn't have done it without you.
And to all of you just starting this hard struggle, it is so worth it. Especially to the younger bunch (I'm 63) get a handle on it now, don't wait.
LOVE YOU SR!!!! P

could you shed some light on how you made it through the first month? did you attend 12 step meetings, or any kind of support group? what were the challenges you faced/ strategies you employed?
Many Thanks
