Hello all

Good morning from the good ol east coast! My fiance is a herion user and is on and iff again from his recovery. He just haf his longest stretch of 15 years of use he hit 6months and just fell off 2 days ago. I am so anxious that im not sure how i am supposed to live normally knowing that he is using again. This is onlu the second time that i have gone through this with him and the first go around was awful. I could go on forever with the stories but im just curious on how to not feel like i need to follow him around like a puppy because im afraid he is going to OD...again..

I am afraid that "living normally" with an actively-using addict is not really an option, my friend. Have you ever been to Nar-anon or Al-anon? These are groups specifically for the loved ones of addicted persons, and can offer tremendous support whether your boyfriend is using or not.

Accepting that we did not cause, cannot control, and cannot cure our loved ones' addiction is a good first step towards taking care of ourselves regardless of what the addicts we care about are doing.

Welcome to SR Ihaveapurpose :)

I'm sorry for what brings you here but there's amazing support here :)

If your purpose is trying to look after your partner, it might be a rough road.
if last time was terrible, I'm afraid I'd expect the same this time...or worse.

I hope you'll think about looking after yourself as well.
SparkleKitty's suggestions are spot on :)
