sorry, no experience. i easily found their website which has a bunch of information. most residential facilities do have an order to the day, certain meetings you are encouraged to attend. that would sort of be the whole point of an enclosed treatment program tho, wouldn't it?

Hi Gaa2000,

I was only there myself at AA meetings but have many friends who were inpatients there.I know you are put in a medical detox unit with a nurse station when you first enter for up to 3 days after which time you have to get up at 6.00am and say the rosery regardless of your religious status then you attend AA meetings with both individual group and the whole group and you have 1 to 1 counselling session.Hope this helps and Good luck

Best of luck! I looked at it too! But went with one in Dublin so I could be close enough to home! I got my time table and it’s pretty much full on! I go in on Monday to start! When are you going?

What do u mean you got a time table does it lay out what happens each day ? See I would prefer that so I know what’s happening I’m just panicking as I’m nervous

I’m not a holy person either and if they start asking me to pray in front of people il crack
I goes tomorrow to newry

Yours may be different! Yeah a time table that starts at 7am! Finish’s at 9.30! Seems very strict I suppose can only be a good thing! Mine is for 5 weeks!
How are you feeling about going? Have you packed? X

Update on Newry

Ok basically do not go to a newry. Trust me locked in a room for two weeks in assesment given the dirt of the food the worst food frozen break out of date milk
Not allowed outside
No exercise
Not allowed to run when ur moved departments as it’s dangerous because too many have claimed.

Basically there is no proper staff nurses . Councillors . No medical help . No one to help
Also your first AA meeting starts after 10 weeks
What the hell
It’s basically a cult Catholic pray pray pray pray pray
Praying isn’t going to sort or help your feelings or your mental state especially nuns who are drunk

I witnessed all of this myself this year
Beware do not go near this place
It’s cheap but it’s a dung hole
No heating no heating in saying freezing 24-7

You can never get reviews of the place
Now you have it
Awful place

Yes I did witness all of this this is the facts
I wanted to see for myself
The place obviously hasn’t got the money nor help to achieve what they intended to do . They have great facilities the building is new and clean
But food poor wouldn’t give to dogs
No help
No qualified nurses or counsellors
No help for gambling what so ever
Basically a holy praying place
You would be safer staying at the house and going to mass every day

It’s badly run. I have reported this to the atthorties

Good for you for reporting a bad place now moving on and moving forward, what do you plan to do about your addiction since this did not work out?

I'm glad you've reported your story to the authorities.
I hope you can move on now.

Carlotta's question is a good one - what are you planning to do now for your recovery now?

Might be a good chance to start a new thread
