It IS possible

I remember a few 24 hours ago, sitting in a treatment center (not my first) I was in evening meeting, and someone came in with a yellow tag. A YELLOW TAG!!! 9 Months, dang. I had not been able to string together 30 days in a row EVER, and here was a yellow tag, right in my face! I was in awe, I swore that some day, SOME day, I would have 9 months clean and sober too. I wanted it so bad. I wanted it bad enough to actually listen, to take those baby steps and have faith in the one person that I had not had faith in before, me. I went to group, I went to meetings and after a while I actually shared. I opened up and accepted help, I followed the steps, I did footwork, and I helped others too. It was hard...HARD at first. Lots of wreckage to deal with, lots of amends, and learning to forgive myself too. I wanted my sobriety more than I ever wanted anything in my life, and I fought for it. I am so very thankful for everyone who has helped me, old timers for wisdom, newcomers for their strength to reach out for help and everyone in between. In 4 days, I will celebrate 24 years Clean and Sober. Without others in recovery to help me, I never would have gotten that first day, much less that 9 months that eluded me for so long.

Thanks for reading,

Cathy

All of us who are either just beginning
a recovery journey or continuing on one
can take inspiration, willingness, courage,
from the experience, strength and hope
passed on by you.

Footwork is necessary if we want to
achieve success in recovery and life
and no one ever has to go thru this
process alone and never hesitate to
ask for suggestions and guidance along
the way.

Awesome Achievement surelyredhead...!!!!!
