Good news and Bad news
Good news and Bad news
So, today I met with a doctor to give me my pre-surgery clearance for my foot surgery on 5/17. I had a chest x-ray and blood work last week and today I had an EKG at the Dr's office. The good news is the blood work was all good, with my liver enzymes normal. YAY! The bad news is the chest x-ray revealed a nodule on my lung. I'm having a CT scan tomorrow.
I'm stressing and just wanted to share.

Hi Rar. I couldn't resist googling, & found that most lung nodules are non-cancerous, very common, & often caused by a previous infection. Prayers that it will be nothing - glad they are being cautious. Happy that the blood work was good.

I am NOT a doctor and have no medical training, but a few years ago it was found that I had a lung nodule. As was mentioned up thread, most are non issues, but it does take a couple of years of monitoring to determine that there's no change in color or size. Fortunately for me it turned out to be nothing, but I completely empathize with what you're feeling.
I know every situation is different, but to offer some encouragement I'm about to turn 60 and either lift weights or run at least 6 days a week and in November will be running in the NYC Marathon. The darn thing is still there, but shrinking on its own and as far as I can tell has not impacted me in any manner.
Wishing you well.

Thanks Everyone for your support. It really means allot, The CT scan is to confirm or refute the presence of a nodule. I had a chest x-ray last year for my shoulder surgery and at that time, there was no mention of any nodule on that x-ray..
Against my better judgment, I consulted Dr. Google. What I read was that if a nodule is confirmed, 60% are non malignant. Negative factors are my age (68) and the fact that I'm a former smoker. I want to keep reading, but I've already scared myself. I lost my mother to lung cancer at age 66. .
I'll keep you folks posted.
Again, thanks for the support - ((HUGS))

Hey there. Definitely keep us in the loop.
Try to treat yourself while you wait. Uncertainty is the worst. But you definitely have the strength to face this, and you don't have to be alone. So if you need to feel free to vent and bark at the moon around here if it gets bad.
Thinking about you and sending good vibes.

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way, hoping your results are benign. My mother always said that getting older isn't for the faint of heart. I didn't really understand what that meant until these years. You're a brave woman and you will deal with things as they present themselves. Glad you are in good hands with your doctors.
Oh by the way, I've heard that a little chocolate can cure anything. Have you tried it? Get you some Hershey's kisses and take two every four hours. I prefer mine with the almonds in them!
