Hi. I need help.

I am an alcoholic. I have been sober for almost 4 years, until today. I am going through benzo withdrawal, and have a rather long story. Not sure if I should post here or in another forum, but I need opinions. Thanks.

Welcome to SR, iamsolost. Very glad that you found us.

I am don't have any experience with benzo withdrawal but someone should be along soon who does.

You may also wish to post in our Substance Abuse forum. I will post a link in a minute.

Again, welcome.

Hi iamsolost,
I understand about benzo withdrawal. It's no fun. My dr forced me on a taper without even telling me and I did not handle it well. I drank to ease the withdrawals but talk about compounding problems.
Do you have any support in your community? Your dr, therapist, detox etc?

Please be careful, I am glad you are here. I am sure I don't need to tell you this but benzo withdrawals are dangerous, especially if you're adding drinking into the mix...

Thank you everyone. Just having someone to talk to has been a big help already.

Delizadee-- Unfortunately, I have relapsed due to benzo withdrawal. It's ridiculous because I was on a low dose for only three months. I have real support, as my Dr. was reluctant to prescribe benzos in the first place, and it's the weekend, so there's no way I'm getting help from anyone unless I go to the ER. Compounding that issue, is that I have but a few hours to get through the ER, if they even do anything, before my kids come home and I have to be here to care for them. I'm looking at the time for a taxi, too, because I have been drinking too much to drive now.

Thanks again everyone.

Iam,

I'm late on this one but at least I tried.

I would stop the booze immediately and go back to the prescribed benzo dose.

Then see the Dr. ASAP.

The booze is a variable that offers short term relief for an extended hell on earth.

I have 0 personal experience, but offer common sense and here say.

How did your evening go?

Thanks.
