Any options besides tapering or benzos?
Hey, Melly. I believe most cities have some sort of a detox facility where there are sliding scales for payment . When I used the one in my county I didn't have to pay anything.
If things get bad, don't hesitate to go to the ER. Even if you don't have money they must treat you, and withdrawals can be life threatening. I had seizures when I stopped all at once, but when I went to the hospital everyone was very kind and understanding. I wish there was an easy way to get sober, but there just isn't.
Wishing you all the best. You are in my thoughts.

Hi guys... In case anyone would like a joyful update..
Through the grace and strength of God alone I managed to successfully taper and I have been sober for 9 days!!!!!! 😁 I am absolutely elated.
I cut down way over half to 3 drinks a day for a few days, just enough to keep the shakes mild and then two for a few days and then none.
God is SO SO good! There is absolutely no way I could have done it otherwise.
Also... God decided I needed help staying permanently sober because I just found out today I am pregnant ❤❤❤ I found out very early... Haven't missed my monthly yet, so absolutely no harm done to the baby.
Thank you all for your encouragement, I will definitely be hanging out on the threads here. Being pregnant means no going back for me and there is absolutely NO chance of me taking a drink.

Melly, go see a doctor. Alcoholism is VERY common and not the stigma you are worrying yourself with. Simply...I want to quit. I am finding it difficult because I have been drinking so much I am concerned with withdrawals. Can you help me?

I wrote a post jumping ahead and didn't see your update first- re-reading now I am so pleased about your current life. Keep going! Planning for after you have the baby like you might already be doing, is a great idea, too!
I was the same way...I didn't want any documentation either. One day I just decided to suck it up and ride out the detox at home. I am currently on day 6 and I can tell you, it is SO worth the hell I went through!
Oh shoot, I missed this post and just responded to your first post on this thread! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
