Recovering again.

I made the huge mistake of feeling so fantastic after 4 months away from alcohol and not missing it that I assumed I could return.

The answer was of course, nope.

Hit rock bottom again and alienated my family once more.

Took quite a few months for it to creep back to the same but creep back it did.

Same story "I'm not drinking that much" "That doesn't mean I'm an alcoholic"

Yes, it does so I have once again embarked on permanent abstinence.

This time I have a recovering alcoholic who hasn't touched a drop since 68 to support me closely.

Inspirational

Only new to this recovery - sometimes the simplest of tales are the more effective. Another diet coke poured.
Thank you.

Welcome carpiaus. You'll find a lot of support here and it's good to hear that you are reaching out for support locally too. Complacency almost always leads to drinking for us unfortunately, so I hope you can make a plan that will keep you motivated and working on staying sober each and every day. You will find lots of information about how others have done it here too so don't be afraid do ask lots of questions.

Thanks.

I made a few common errors.

I want everything that comes with 100% sobriety and right now I'm feeling very determined.

I'm lucky that I have a great family still (just) and a great job that I love.

I'm gonna get back to some of my passions, cycling - in particular mountain biking, virtual reality - Oculus rift and I'm gonna try to let everything else develop.

I'll try to stay in touch this time and lean when I need too instead of trying to hold it all in.

💪💪

Welcome back. I, too, have relapsed after a period of sobriety, thinking I could control it. I did for a little while, but it gradually crept back up to the amount or more than I was previously consuming. SR is instrumental in keeping me on my sober path. Logging in here daily keeps me from becoming complacent. It will help you too. Stay close.
