Just a check in for old and new friends

Haven’t been around much mostly because of getting signed out but I have the day off so I thought I’d check in.

First and foremost I’m happily sober. Coming up on 9 years and all I can say is wow. Leading a sober life that is better than I could have imagined. As my old friends know sobriety has not been alll rainbows and unicorns $hitting skittles. At 5 years sober my 28 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer and 6 months later she was dead. For the next 2 years I went through the darkest days imaginable but I made it through them sober.

Although there is not a moment I’m not sad the are many blessings in my life. I have learned you can be happy and sad at the same time.

So hello everyone. SR is a great place with a lot of wisdom. For those that are actually willing to take the advice there is a incredible sober life out there.

Well not 9 years yet but I do have 3,177 days and God willing there is a pretty good chance I’ll be sober today.

Recovery is the important part at least at this stage in the journey. It took a while but I have built a life around alcohol free living. My wife has her glass of wine here and there but that is about it. My faith in a higher power is strengthen, I have sober or normal drinking friends, I have discovered there are a ton of fun things that don’t require alcohol, I have a full and balanced life. Still am active in AA which saved my life.
