Thanks for all the support I have received in the many months I have been trying to beat my addiction. As of now, I am getting up off the canvas, dusting myself off, and pulling myself together. Not surprisingly, I have been drinking. I think my AA sponsor is about to part ways with me. I get it though. He does not think I am serious.
I am though. I just have so much being thrown at me right now. I will not go into the depths of it, but it is very challenging. Yes, I know, drinking only makes it worse. I know what I need to do.
I will not quit quitting.

serious enough to dump out the booze and get to a meeting? horn, if you were serious you wouldnt be sitting with a bottle,in the midst of a pity party with ," I just have so much being thrown at me right now."
you think youre the only person with so much being thrown at you? and the alcohol aint solving any of it,is it?
you may say youre serious, but your actions say differently.
stop screwin around, dude. russian roulette isnt fun.
there aint no drink worthy events
and
there aint no part time alcoholics- you is or you isnt.
get your but to a meeting.

I shudder when I here a sponsor "fire" a sponsee for drinking. Such a sponsor does not understand alcoholism or the AA program. We take the steps to recover, not the other way around.
There is an exception though. I have worked with newcomers who did relapse a few times, but kept coming back, kept appointments and other commitments, and, like the book says, sat down with me to figure out where they were going wrong.
These guys were really serious and their actions showed it. They get a mention in the foreword to the second edition- ... of those who really tried, 50% recovered at once. A further 25 % recovered after some relapses.
Then there are those who don't try, who will not completley give themsevels to this simple program. I have no power to help them. The big book tells me to leave them to it. Maybe they will change their minds when they have been beten up some more. If I continue in a futile endeavour, I am depriving other willing newcomers of my time.
It is the action that matters.
