I am wondering if my loved one relapsed after 5 months but for only 3 days & he wants to quit drinking , he reached out to me saying he doesn't want to go down that road again, will he go through horrible withdrawals again ? He thinks he won't & I don't know what to expect. At this point I didn't want to discourage him since he believes he made up his mind , that he won't drink again. Any answers ?

no one is qualified here to say if he will go through withdrawal again - that depends on the individual and on other factors like how many times he's detoxed before.

Will he stay sober? that up to him really - its easy to promise the world when you're coming off a binge but much harder down the road when you start feeling good again.

If he's committed to doing whatever it takes not to drink again, he has as good a chance as the rest of us :)
