Still sober I haven't visited SR for a while, and see that it is still a great place to find support and help 24/7. I'm coming up on 8 years sober now and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about "then" and "now" and am astonished at the changes I have made in sobriety. I drank alcoholically for 35 years: it's progressive, in the beginning it was mostly weekends that I were ruined by monstrous binges and monstrous hangovers. Then it progressed to daily and then to everyday, all day long. I was psychologically, emotionally, spiritually and physically devastated when I decided to quit. And, it took a while. I had a lot of relapses. But, I never stopped trying. Sobriety is completely doable! And there are very, very few people who cannot achieve it. I dare to say: everyone can. Keep trying, keep sharing. Help is here. :tyou |

littlefish, as someone who --has drank for 30+ years --has only one time (a long time ago) where I stopped for a month --is on what seems-like-my-millionth try to quit --is only 6 days in this time... ...this post really means a lot to me. The newest addition to my plan is to stay close to SR. Thanks for taking the time to post. |
