Day 41 - Had a major wobble. It’s Saturday night, I decided to go out and get a Starbucks about 7pm. It was a crisp evening, but not too cold for a change. As I got near to my destination, I got ambushed by some intense alcohol cravings. I’ve been battling severe cocaine cravings recently, so I think I’d gotten a little complacent on the alcohol. My route to Starbucks goes straight passed the liquor store. Next thing I know, my shoes have taken me straight through the entrance. Somehow I’d decided that I was fine now and I could almost taste a cold beer going down my throat and how good it would feel. I managed to steady the ship and slip back out of the door before it looked too awkward. I got my Starbucks and look a different route home. That was a close call. Stay vigilant out there friends. |
Always on guard. Good for you. |
Man, that was close !! Good that you were able to react and walk out of the store ! We all know that just one drink and we can easily go back to the alcoholic miserable lifestyle. Keep going !! |
I'm glad you were able to change your mind Pete - thats a great lesson to learn IMO so many times once I had the desire to drink, I blindly followed it though - but it doesn't have to be that way :) :) D |
Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. |
Good show. The thing I have been reciting in my head all week (I’ve been sober for a week today), is that if I do not take the first drink, I cannot get drunk. And if I take the first drink, I do not have the power to stop. AA is really helping me. Have you tried it? |
Good for you. I know that feeling. Lol. I have 4 liquor stores within walking distance from my house. Sometimes it’s like running the gauntlet. |
Good job Pete, that good news is that close call made your sober muscles grow a little more! |
