Wedding x

Hey guys
I have a family wedding on Easter Tuesday
Needless to say I'll be on my soda water and lime ....
But I'm still worried ...
84 days sober today and I feel great
I guess I'm overthinking but it's gonna be such a long day around alcohol
Although the good part is we are staying over and it's a fabulous hotel
This is my first wedding I'm attending sober
Just wanted to know have any of you guys experienced this
Thanks
Caralara ❤️

I just did recently - you can check my thread Boozy New Orleans Wedding for lots of discussion and comments.

I really enjoyed myself. But my drunks were always more alone on my couch after everyone went to sleep or was away.

That said there are plenty of snares and temptations there. Prepare well!

And huge congrats on 84 days thats awesome.

I think an escape plan is mandatory for all occasions like this - even if you never use it, it's good to know its there.

If you're really worried, make your excuses at the church and skip the reception.

There are some good tips here too:

whatever you decide, have a good sober time

I did one in my early recovery.
Took the car so I could go if I needed to.
I lasted all day till about 7pm when things started getting too boozy and the transition from Merry was turning to something else that my polite conversation couldn’t handle.

That said it was a good wedding with lots of entertainment and I enjoyed the time I spent at it.
I heard the stories next day of the things I’d missed, drink driving was one of them.

Escape plan is essential.
You have a room to take a break if/when you need one.

Good luck
Enjoy the wedding.

Thanks D
This is amazing
I screenshotted it to my phone so I can have it to read
Unfortunately can't leave though as it's a family affair
