Even My Dogs Are Glad I'm Sober

I realized the other evening that I am paying more attention to my dogs, and giving them more hugs now, than when I was sucking down the beers.

During my last binge when I rarely left my bed my dog was glued to my side. He was like that when I got home from rehab.

He's mellowed out a bit in the past 9 months, but he is still very attentive and looking for signs that I'm not OK.

WHo's a good boy?

Awww. Love this post. Still struggling here... big time.

But my puppy Newfoundland is my bud. I do feel like I neglect him when I’m drinking

Both my dog and cat knew as soon as I came in I had been drinking. I really believe I saw sadness in their eyes.

Man I miss having a dog - grew up with them but as a member of a major metropolis with few hours at home and a small apartment just haven't had one in years.

That said my son's fishtank is noticeably cleaner. Oh and he's happy I'm sober as well.

I take way better care of my pets now that I'm sober. I've always taken care of them but I'm able to do more then just the minimum and I really love that
