Tomorrow is Two Years!
Tomorrow is Two Years!
I'll have two sober years tomorrow, but I was so excited that I couldn't wait to post and so here I am, one day early.
So grateful for this site and for the tough love early on in the process.
There's a song by Tame Impala - do you know the band? Great band - but anyway, the song by them called "Yes I'm Changing" really resonates with me these days - there's a line in it which says "they say people never change but that's bulls--t, they do!" which I am happy to report is true.
Still lots of work to do and it's a daily process but cravings are gone and early in February I completely cut out sugar and processed food, which has done wonders for mood control, sleep and general well-being. I don't recommend that for early days but I felt ready and it's been positive.
For those in early days - the regulars will tell you "keep going - it gets better!" and I'm here to tell you - it's TRUE! Keep fighting and no matter what happens, don't have that first drink!

Congratulations, and thank you for the encouragement you're providing those like me (20 days in) who are where you were 2 years ago!
Concerning quitting sugar and processed food... what an additional gift you've given yourself, your health and your future. Fantastic!
