25 years and still going

I’ve been drinking since 15 years old. I’m now 42. I’ve went from a 6 pack of beer to sometimes a half gallon of vodka or rum per day. I now suffer from withdrawal and shaking, sweating, loose bowls off color sometimes 10 plus times a day. Walked out of rehab 4 Times in a year. Tried aa. Tried rehab. Smoking not permitted and I’m a heavy smoker. Quit for 30 days once and 7 another. Cycle seems endless. I’m finding a smoking inpatient facility. The reason for my post is anyone who can stop before you get to my point please do everything you can. You might think you can handle it in you early years but it progresses to the point of not being able to control it. Anyone younger out there reading this trust me. Stop if you can. It’s not worth it

Hi and welcome Elsbree :)

You know what ? I reckons it's possible for you too - I was forty when I quit - I was an all day drinker and smoker.

With the help of this community I turned my life around...looking forward to 11 years next months.

This could be you too :)

chowchow,
I'm 59 years old and I've been sober for 312 days, I was 13 when I started drinking and drugging, It's never to late. All you have to do is commit to stay sober for 24 hours. Is it easy? Early on no, but it does get easier. Check in here often, lots of great folks with caring hearts and souls that will help you through the rough time.
