Intesive out-patient anyone?

Hi gang!
Finaly got in to see my shrink tonight.
After a lenghty discussion he sugested i try the intensive outpatient groups.
They would meet three times a week from six to nine.
and the program would last from three to eight weeks depending on individual needs and progress.
I would like to know if anyone has gone this route.
Not that I am in denial, but I just don't know if this is me.
It seems almost to clinical in name or severe.
Maybe that is what I need, I don't know.
Any input would be of help.
John.

HEY LOST PUPPY,I'VE WENT THAT ROUTE BEFORE,
PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS FINDING ANSWERS TO THERE PROBLEMS.
I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DO TO RECOVER.
IN MY OPINION IT SURE COULDN'T HURT,AT LEAST GIVE IT A CHANCE.

Hi John!

I did the out-patient program and it was a great help to me.I wanted to stay sober and was and still am willing to go to any lengths for my recovery.I had the Gift Of Desperation. When all else failed (and my way always did) and I started to take suggestions from people who "might" know alittle more than me the miracle of my recovery began to happen. Is it easy? No.Is it worth it?H*ll yes! Good luck and Bless! Trish

Thanks Trish and Ted, that does help.
Another question if you don't mind, Are the attendance rules generally strict?
the reason I ask is I do heating and cooling service work and as you can imagine this is peak "I have no heat" time.
I am afraid I would get there late often, and possibly not at all.
Would they kick me out?
If I commit to doing this will I fall into any kind of legal labelling?
Boy don't I sound Paranoid tonight!
John.

I think there are different rules for different programs. The one I went to you couldnt miss too many or you were discharged but at the same time they were flexible realizing that people had jobs.I know for me that if I do not put my recovery first I will lose what I put in front of it.Do the best you can! As long as you are not court committed you wont have any problems with the law~everything is confidental and they cant speak to anyone unless you first sign a release for them to do so.

Thanks a million!
I don't know what my problem is tonight, I guess I should try and get some sleep.
Not that I won't be up in a couple hours staring at the ceiling. HA HA!..OH, bummer.
Thanks again, goodnight, God bless.
John.
