I'm wondering whether anxiety could have caused my edema
I know what you're thinking. No it can't, but hear me out.
For a good few months when drinking I noticed I would get pitting edema in my feet. I'm 1 month dry now, but during the period dry I still had edema but it was very minor. It only affected my inner ankles and to the naked eye you couldn't tell.
I'm someone with sever health anxiety so I over worried about this. At one point I was poking my feet 5 times an hour checking to see if it got worse. An OCD habit formed. This continued for a month. The other day I got so upset and annoyed with my anxiety that I ignored it.
I had a doctors appointment booked but they couldn't see me Friday so they rebooked it for 3 weeks away as they said it was non urgent. I had no choice but to stop worrying because I couldn't do another 3 weeks of anxiety.
For 2 days the edema has gone completely. It's too much of a coincidence to ignore but it seems once I stopped worrying and stopped proding my ankles everything went back to normal.
I'm overjoyed! I started to think I had a liver problem, or a heart problem, from alcohol abuse. Dr. Google is not good.
I shall not drink with ya'll today

Hi 16 years. Thank you for your post. I am so glad your problem has gone. I have never heard of it so can't say whether it was from alcohol or not, but I know that a heck of a lot of health problems are caused by alcohol so well done on quitting. Stay strong. Well done and take care.
it would be wise to stay away from dr google and speak with the specialists that diagnosed the ocd and anxiety along with your physician.

maybe thete wasnt a problem in the first place?

Once I stopped drinking, mine went away. However, slight edema surfaces for me from time to time depending on my diet. Glad your's is gone. I've experienced the worrying and obsession regarding edema and other health issues. I'm sure your doctor will give you a good check up to finally put your mind at yeast.
As a sufferer of health anxiety myself, I know for a fact that anxiety can manifest itself via physical symptoms. Dr. Google is your worst enemy in those types of situations, i've fortunately been able to cancel all my future appointments ;-)
