Trying this again
 

Well, since I posted last time I went back to drinking daily. Talk about disappointed. I had made 3 days, and then I got some scary news. That's my go to. I wanna change it, but i dont really know where to start. Anyhow im back to day 1. Wouldnt matter if i wanted to or not tonight because the liquor store is closed. Tomorrow I'm going to an event with alcohol all around and I'm nervous, but Im also determined. 3 more hours to go and i will have made it 24 hours.

do you really need to go to an event where alcohol is all around right now?
why not give it a miss if you're struggling so much to stay sober Dusty?

yes, changing the "go to" is one part of the picture.
this is where lots of people find plans and/or programs helpful. lots of them to be found upon further reading on SR.

I would definitely plan an alternate activity. I know I couldn't have been surrounded by alcohol so early on.

Maybe consider skipping the alcohol event. It is definitely not something that I could have handled on Day 2 (or Day 20 or 50 or 100, quite honestly).

Find a reason to skip the event and wake up hangover-free on the morning of Day 3; it will feel so very much better than the alternative.

Yeah chop your legs off and say I had a bit of an accident I can’t come.

It’s a hard gig so early on. My guess is you would put recovery off till another day, ‘what would one more day hurt’ said the AV

Thank y'all so much for your replies. I was only planning to go because I knew I'd be driving, and I'd have my 3 little cousins with me. I would not be able to drink because no matter how bad I wanted to I'd never drink and drive with them. I feel pretty lousy today though so I'm gonna stay home. I just gotta find something to do anyhow to stay busy.
