And Now For The Really Good Times
Hello folks - Dave from Wirral, Merseyside , UK.
I joined yesterday and look forward to getting involved.
40 years a drinker with one visit to rehab last year.
I started drinking again - Gin being my main crutch - but two days ago I had my final drink using the restriction of work and tapering to achieve such a position in which I could begin the true journey at last.
Im 55 and need to work for many more years - I have peripheral neuropathy which is still just manageable without medical care - but it has gotten to get scary - so - its time. Im reading books on why I should be giving up to double up on motivation and - to triple hit - Ive joined here.
Im going to read , listen , enjoy , contribute - I am so determined this time - I can offer empathy in abundance , of course , but Im hoping to let my positivity shine through and show you that we can do it - without preaching as , for you who know the power of alcohol , it can be easy to jump back into that swamp - smelly and bleak as it is.
I wish you all well and hope to speak with many of you on my journey.

Welcome DG1!!
You and I are close in age. Old enough to know that dying an alcoholic death sounds pretty darn miserable. But not so old that we don't have a lot of good quality life to enjoy.....look forward to hearing about your journey.

Thanks Fricka
I dont fancy dying any death just yet 🤕.
I look forward to seeing you around here. Never before have I really believed I wanted to do it - Ive lied to myself of course - I am gullible as alcohol has lied to me since my first drink. The liar itself has been sent to death row. Two days in is nothing in the scheme of things as we know - but Im only mentioning it by way of introduction for there will not be a day count - only a bright future. Im feeling much better by merely feeling empowered. Catch you again.
