It's a good feeling to drive the kids Where they want to go at any time knowing I am sober and responsible |
Ditto ! Felt like that last night driving back from the cinema with my daughter. It's a good feeling :) |
Me, too! My youngest was at a sleepover and I knew I could get a call anytime. But I would be sober and ready if needed. |
Great stuff |
My husband and I talk about this a lot. And it made my heart SO happy on NYD, about 6 am, when my step-daughter texted me first (knowing I'd be up as usual) to see if one of us could get her from her friend's house. Nothing was wrong, she just wanted to come home- and nothing was "wrong" with us, so it was all good! |
Love this! |
I had the same positive feeling when I was able to go out and jump start my little brothers car on a Saturday evening because I was sober and could drive...its great 😁 |
It certainly is a great feeling nova84 |
I agree! I’m on the way to the playground and feed ducks with my daughter! We are BOTH so happy! |
Lovely Sobermom |
Driving is a privilege that I almost lost. If I lost my driving privilege my life style would change for the worse over night. I do enjoy zipping around now much more than when I quit. I had serious agoraphobia intially. HBO has a movie called risky drinking. This old guy went to rehab and was clean for 35 days. They show him taking his grandson to the zoo. He looked so normal and content. Next day...boom...relapse. He was so drunk he couldn't stand up. His wife and kids were at their wits end. So sad, but this can happen to any of us. Addict for life here. Gratitude. Thanks. |
I also love driving, used to be a lorry driver before I had my children |
Right on, Mummyto2! Sober Sunday afternoons are a luxury to me now! Now I can accept the dinner invitations from friends and family because I am sober and I can drive. I missed out on so much in my alcoholic bubble. |
Such a sense of freedom |
I remember having the same experience, thinking that "now I can be a responsible father." |
