Day 825 - Paying It Forward
Yes, 825 days sober - not a "Newcomer" by any stretch.
I know that its been a long time since I've been back here. Honestly, I've been just busy with living life.
But after 17 years of drinking heavily (but socially), and then almost 10 years of drinking alcoholically - to the point of severe illness, I spent many a Saturday night here struggling as a "Newbie".
For anyone out there who is like I was - please don't ever give up!
As long as you breathe there is hope.
For many years I searched and searched desperately for the "secret combination" to the lock that would free me from my addiction. After much reading and research, too many broken promises and bad hangovers, - I learned the connection between my conscious, my subconscious and my drinking.
825 days ago I just stopped. And although I have had my good and bad days - I've been sober ever since!
Thank you all of SR for your thoughts and support. Special thanks to the Moderators who tirelessly make this a place to find answers.
And to those still searching - don't ever give up! I am living proof that ANYONE can redeem themselves.
Much love.
