I'm ploughing through my chocolate !
I Won't lie it's definitely not as a enjoyable as a cold glass of Chardonnay.
Feels odd not drinking at the weekend ( although I drink 7 nights a week)
Weekend just seem more acceptable.. !🤔
Thank you for asking 😊

Hang in there and stick close to SR Rowlands.
It will get easier, I promise.
Why don't you also check out the class of February where you can network with other people who quit drinking at the same time?
I know that my class was a lot of support when I quit in january 2013

I’m in the same boat Rowlands, Saturday’s were always a write off for me, so spending it sober is a big change and does require some getting used to.
Although I am certainly no authority to speak on the topic, I think you’re really brave for doing what you’re doing and trying to make some positive changes. As your daughter gets older, she will come to respect you more as a strong woman who overcame her demons to become a good role model for her to follow. In my book, that makes you a good Mum, so keep it up!

Welcome Rowlands to SR.
You will find a lot of support and help here. Congrats on Day 2 and reaching out for help very early. That takes a lot of desire and willingness to quit. I suggest that you try not to think about your past these next few weeks. Work on living today and making the right choices now. As an Alcoholic, I know that I had to learn to make good decisions now. Good thing about the past is it never goes anywhere and never changes. So it doesn't need to be tended to but right now is all that matters. Also, try not to think about the future. This only causes fear and anxiety. Stay in the "NOW". Good luck

Thank you so much everyone for all your kind messages & positivity.
I had a hideous night... Sweating ...
Horrid thoughts & woke up feeling if been hit by a truck.. But I'm guessing this is all normal.
It's day 3 of my passage & the sun is shinning so going to put my girl girl pants on & have a good day

Hi Rowlands, it is scary when you start out. I also know what you mean about the feeling of anger and guilt associated with alcohol use. I'm the same. Making the decision to stop is daunting but over time your perspective on alcohol will change and you'll clearly see the benefits. You don't have to justify your decision to stop using alcohol to anyone. All the best.
Hi Rowlands! So proud of you for making it past day two!
Yes, the first couple of weeks can be hideous, between the sweats, tossing and turning, and lack of sleep without a "sedative". It's been just shy of a month for me and I am finally sleeping well. If you were shaking everyday, that will go away very soon too. Keep your big girl pants on (except to wash them, lol!) and you're gonna be great.

Today is going to be difficult.
Kids are back to school & Husband at work.
I'm self employed ...so today is all about Structure...
3pm till 7pm are my twitching hours so going to sit & write my tool box plan...
4 days sober ...
I'm so proud of myself ...I've never gone that long other than when I was pregnant!

Welcome...you are embarking on a ride that will tske you to heights you never imagined. Be strong and don’t push too hard. Let it flow with breathing excercises, lots of soda water with lime and walking. Watch comedy shows as well and read abt things you have no interrst in (trust me)

I'm drinking soda & a slice of lemon like it's gone out of fashion !
I look after & walk dogs so I'm out & about all day .. Which is good for me.
Trying to take each day as it comes.
😊

Glad to hear you are doing good
Keep it up, it will get easier as day passes and turn into months and before you know it you will have some years under your belt and rarely think about drinking (if at all).
