the beauty of weekend mornings...
just something I am keeping in mind today as Friday afternoon/evening creeps up and I head to meet friends, who are certain to have a drink at dinner, and my old habits wake up the beast who wants me to remember I on a Friday I would usually of finish a half pint of vodka before dinner and sneak another half in the house to finish after my wife goes to sleep creep in.
So I'm going to really focus on the simple but deep pleasure and surety and comfort of waking up tomorrow morning and Sunday morning completely sober without pain or regret or self-questioning.
Here's to seltzer.
No one is coming to save us.

After countless Saturday mornings in which I paid a heavy price, the joy of weekend mornings was one of the first things I really really enjoyed early in sobriety. I think you will feel that way too. Good luck.

Friday night and Saturday night were my excuse to go OTT. Those nights I could drink a bottle of vodka and it would be "acceptable" in my mind because it's the weekend.
I now wake up refreshed on a weekend and feeling great. It's strange because sometimes I wake up in hangover mode and my body is all prepared for the hangover battle ... except there is no hangover. A hangover on the weekend was the norm for many years.

Hell yeah sober buddies! Time to hit the gym for me!
I love going in the mornings on the weekend. The gym is always empty and I can hit any machine I want and take my time. Then I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want.
One of the priceless positives of sobriety.

I love mornings now, all of them. I am an incredible early bird and usually go to 6am hot yoga after getting up at 430- sleeping til 6 or 7 is a luxury too!
I especially love Sat mornings because my husband is sleeping in (for him) so I can go wake him up for a morning chat around 730- we plan our day or just talk. It's awesome.
Happy weekend all!

Yesterday I hopped on my bike early, ran into the rodeo parade, a 5 k run with 100s of people, a mariachi group playing and recording a music video, along the bayou and beautiful weather. Thank God I am sober. Would have never had the chance just a few years ago.
