68 days, feeling normal
So I guess 68 days in I'm experiencing what it's like to be normal. The cravings are less but not gone. My brain seems to be working better. Nice to not have hangovers. Somewhat sad to realize they weren't really friends but drinking buddies. I have gone to the bar once a week but drink o.j. or grapefruit juice. Everyone there knows I'm not drinking and they try to be friendly but I definitely get a sense they don't want me there. Need to get a life now but truly don't know where to start. I know 68 days is just a beginning so for now being sober has been enough.
Great job! I think one thing that i found out is that sometimes we have to "change our playground". Not to say any friends won't come back but for me to be successful in recovery i had to make sure i surrounded myself with people that wanted me to succeed.
Congratulations on 68 days RagsDash!
I think most have us have lost a few "friends" when we gave up alcohol. You admitting you have a problem means they have to look at their own actions in ways they might not want to and so dismiss your decision as being unfriendly or anti-social. I'm sure your new sober life will be better.
