Today’s Doctor Visit
I went to my dr today for a follow up visit. I visited him on Jan 19, feeling very pathetic. I confessed that I needed to stop drinking, but was afraid of withdrawal. It was awkward. He mentioned a time 5 years prior when he said he had advised me to stop drinking. He said “hmm I guess I should’ve followed up”. It was humiliating but I left there with a medicine to help me safely detox.
I detoxed that weekend and went to an AA meeting on day 4. I’ve come to SR and AA every day since. I’m happy to report I am 28 days sober.
It felt awesome to go back today and tell the dr I was sober. Bonuses included my BP being back to normal and having lost 10 lbs.
I made another appt in one month just for extra accountability!

That's a lovely story.
What a turnaround from feeling humiliation and shame just 28 days ago, to the Komplex that walked out of the doctor's surgery with head held high in pride.
