97 days then a quick slip

well guys i managed 97 days then decided to drink cause "**** it, i've earned it"

that was 2 sundays ago. since then i've gotten drunk 4 times and even got high a couple times.

last night by coincidence i met an old friend at an interview and went for coffee then drinks.. ended up getting drunk.. i always drink to get drunk.

makes me sad to realize how quickly i've fallen back to my old habits. hasn't even been 2 weeks. it's so clear now that i'm not like everyone else when it comes to drinking. when i'm turned ON i take any opportunity to get drunk socially. it's pretty much all or nothing for me. always has been.

on the bright side it's been a very short time and i'm getting right back on the horse with more motivation. overall the last 3 months have been good and i feel like i am headed in the right direction.

day 1 again. sigh.

I am glad that slip was short lived.

Way to get back on the saddle!

Well you've now done additional research and concluded that you don't drink like other people.

Remember this, so that it doesn't happen again.

Each time you go back out, it get's harder to get sober again. I was once sober 5 1/2 years. Then I had a couple of beers with a steak dinner in a nice restaurant. It was all downhill from there.

It took me a year of on again, off again, drinking to finally get sober for good. I don't ever want to take the chance of drinking again.

Good for you for getting back on the horse. Believe me, I've fallen more times than I can count over the years. Sometimes a short fall can lead us to success. You've got this!

Hey there,
Nice job getting back at it! It's not easy and for me i had to realize that any time i slipped could be a time that i might not make it back. I remember my first 30 days and how i literally picked up my chip and thought i had earned it. Headed to a bar and it started another long period of relapsing on off for almost 4 years. I spent time living on the streets and in my truck. Incomprehensible demorilization! I even spent a few days in the hospital with acute pancreatitus. I could have died. Cunning, baffling and powerful. Do i want to go back to that? No F-in way! Remember you're worth it!

Glad you are back.

I loathe the word slip, so I will just say that your choice to drink can now give you the choice, bc you are sober with another chance to stay that way, you can make that better choice.

Best to you.
