Mood swings SUCK

Been a roller coaster these last few days but I am feeling better. Physically especially. I literally have to tell myself to stop thinking negative thoughts, etc. I hope things stabilize soon.

I would agree with you there Horn - but keep in mind that they are a normal part of the process. Keep coming here to talk through things and try to take part in other activities that will help. Take a walk, get an ice cream cone, go to a pet store and talk to the animals, anything to get you out of your own head.

It will get better.

Have you heard of or read about urge surfing?

I find the same concept, typically advised for those moments of craving the bottle, to help me when I'm overcome with anxiety or regret or pain. Although in the moment it seems insufferable, you can also step outside the feelings and objectify them. You can watch them come and go, which is a very basic idea of mindfulness or meditation. It doesn't have to be a heady woo woo experience though.

Thanks guys. I have always had problems with anxiety and depression, but nothing I couldn’t treat with talk therapy. I know the prolonged drinking has made it worse. I just it is not something that won’t repair itself.

I restarted Campral today. I’ll let y’All know how/if it works.

Hi Horn95

"I literally have to tell myself to stop thinking negative thoughts, etc."

This is how I have transformed my thoughts. I literally tell myself to STOP every time I catch myself drifting into unproductive negative thinking.

All the best

I'd just keep reminding myself that it's all part of the withdrawal process. I'd find that reminding myself it can happen when I'm feeling good helps me prepare for it when it does.

Make sure you tell that guy in the mirror you're doing this for HIM.
You're going through this current discomfort so he can have a better future.
