Day One
Hi everyone! I have finally decided to change my life for the better. I have been using daily for twenty years now. I'm 45, married and have a family. My husband is unemployed, needs surgery and we had to move in with the in-laws. It's been rough but it makes me want to make some major changes so we can get our life back on track. I had an abusive childhood, abusive first marriage and lost contact with all family and friends. It's been very lonely and I drink to control anxiety, stress and to forget the past. It's only making me fat and depressed. We drink together and have a hard time missing one day. It is in large amounts as well. I work full time and my job is getting more difficult as I spiral out of control. I could really use some support and advice because this is going to be really hard for us. Thanks for listening.
Welcome to SR haapynow, and congrats on your decision to quit. We all had our "reasons" for drinking, but as you seem to have realized, it actually makes it all worse - there is no help involved with alcohol.
Hope you can stick around, you'll find a lot of support and understanding here.

[QUOTE=mandypandy;6777842]You can do it. The stuff poisons you in every way and makes you believe it is hard to live without it. But even a week away from it, you will see, you are stronger than you think.
