Hope for the best

Hello! My AH has been struggling with alcohol for years. He just recently got an dui and has been going to AA and OP substance abuse treatment. I am trying to be positive but can’t help but think what if he loses momentum? What then? I want to be supportive but at the time don’t want him to feel like I a smothering. Any advice? I need some direction!

It's a tough position you're in. Have you looked into Al Anon or even the "Friends and Families" section of this board?

Hi Smitty Kitty - you'll find a lot of support here for yourself

The bottom line is it's your husbands responsibility to stay sober...not yours.

I know it's natural to worry but all the worry in the world won't change an outcome. Only your husbands actions can do that.

I hope your husband has had what I call a window of clarity & is committed to long term recovery...but only time can tell.

I was an all day everyday drinker and stopped nearly 11 years ago, so it is possible
