My Last Day 1

I have been down this road too many times. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. This has to be my last day 1. I feel physically awful, and taking more time off of work isn't an option.

Maybe making myself suffer through this day, instead of taking the easy route (calling in) will help me finally get it. I can't do this anymore.

Thanks for listening:thanks

You can do it! I am on Day 23, the longest time I have ever had in the past 4 years. Like you, I was also sick and tired of being sick and tired!!

During the first seven days, I drank tons of detox and dandelion teas. It may help you also.

Post here as often as you need - we are here to support and encourage you!

You never have to feel like this again, wildflower.

I had MANY day ones. Towards the end, I felt defeated. UNTIL, I had a last day one. I was miserable physically and mentally on that day, but paradoxically I also was hopeful, because I knew it was going to be the last.

That thought can be liberating, and freeing. So as you say, make this the last day one. You can do it. Put the scaffolding in place to put an end to this. (Post here, meetings, make a recovery plan, seek outside help, etc.)

What you tried in the past hasn't worked, so try something new. Hang in there, and know that we are here. Again, you can do this.

Hi Wildflower, Me too. So many of us can relate. So sick and tired of feeling so awful. Suffer through the day reminding yourself you never want to feel that way again.

Only at day 2 here. But I forgot how good it feels to wake up sober and clear. Not to mention the better sleep.

It takes what it takes. It can be your last day one. Please put some recovery elements in place for when the suffering fades (cause it will) and thoughts turn away from sobriety to drinking (cause they do).

I woke up last Saturday with the same thought, "I can't do this anymore". I was miserable. What did I do? I caved and drank that night. As I mentioned in my post earlier today, in the middle of my evening drunken state, I thought to myself, what the hell am I doing? Do I want to live the rest of my life this way? Is this what I want? Regret every morning for what I can't seem to stay away from at night? Having that constant monkey on my back? No, no more. So I dumped it all and haven't looked back. Suffering without tonight will not only show you that you can be sober, but will give you a sense of pride in yourself. Just please don't look at it in the morning that you should drink because you don't want to go through THAT again. Think of all of the positive results you will gain in sobriety. You can do this. It really is liberating.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I made it through the day just fine, and as the hangover began to subside I remembered just how good we can feel...sober.
I'm so happy to be going to bed early, with a big glass of water instead of wine!:tyou

Great job, Wildflower! On to day 2.

You should be very proud.

Day 1 is the hardest day, IMHO.
