Meditation apps or vids on you tube. I take Valium as and when needed, helps a lot in the early days. Rehabs actually provide Valium during the first week or two to assist with the detox and withdrawals.
Research mindfulness, takes practise but does work.
Lots of water and good sleep (if that’s possible) helps as well.
Ummm, short walks outside can increase endorphins.
I’m sure others will have some great tips to share soon.
Deep breathes

I have this same problem! I don’t want to be a stressed out, irritable, irrational person!

I turn on meditation videos from you tube sometimes when I remember. And drink hot chamomile tea before bed. I believe getting on a regular sleep schedule helps, although I know it’s hard to do sometimes.

I use exercise as a way of reducing these feelings I found it to be quite effective.
It's deffinately an all round good tool and one for the box.

Best wishes, Dusty😎

Journalling really helped me get rid of some of the anger and irritability. Walking a lot helped, too. It's a process and and you will be able to get through this!

irritability is pretty common. It's one of the things we have to deal with when mind and body are healing.

Like Anna said a gratitude list helped me. Making a list of the things I was grateful for was the last thing I wanted to do but I'm glad I did

Light exercise helped a lot too.

It took awhile but I learned to tell myself that I'm probably overreacting due to coming off alcohol when my temper would flare, and boy would it. It probably sucked to be one of my employees for a while because I was ruthless. This is all very odd behavior for me as I tend to always be calm and collect and able to politely show people what they need to do instead of making them feel dumb when they do dumb stuff.

The irritability is the absolute worst. Luckily, it does pass! At 6 weeks, I'm a different person than I was at the very beginning. As others have said, journaling helped me a LOT.
