2 months sober today !
I cant believe ive made it to 2 month sober . Longest ive been sober in 4 years and ive tried to stop many times and lasted 20 days max. Im feeling so much clearer and healthier . A better person . But i do have this niggling feeling creeping in questioning whether i can spend my whole l8fe witj no alcohol . Why is this happening when im so happy with no alcohol ? Xxx
Hi Kirstie
They call alcoholism the disease of forgetting and it's easy to see why.
My inner addict would be telling me
you've made it a few months now and life is good - why not make it better with just a glass or two of booze...you're not even craving alcohol anymore...you could drink like a normal person now..why deprive yourself?
Of course alcoholism only changes in that it gets worse and you'd soon find yourself back where you used to be or worse.
Noone wants to be different and noone wants to be deprived...but the more I stay sober the less I feel deprived and the less I care about being different.
I had all these 'what ifs' and 'how will I's' too...but I've dealt with those situations all sober and a lot more besides.
W e change in recovery - for the better.
I'm totally at peace with never drinking again. I hope you'll join me, and all the other folks here in that
