Ok, I'll cede that. Just don't eat packaged microwave popcorn. Take out the corn and that's just industrial cleaner.

Yes, strawberry ice cream is a serving of fruit and a serving of dairy.

Soda, pop, coca-cola...diet or sugared...so bad for you.

A bit of a brag and a BIG THANK YOU to the SR community.

About a year after joining this site I was getting sober and realized I would much rather start my own tax and financial planning business than to keep plugging away at my well-paying, but uninspiring government job. I started training for it and then working at it in my spare time while I kept that paycheck rolling in. In late 2015 I opened my own office, but still just kept it in my spare time. Last year I quit my day job to work for myself full time.

I need to add 75 clients this year to meet my expectations for growth and sustainability. I added 22 in January. The biggest months for my type business are February and March. Meaning I am likely to exceed my growth expectations for the entire year before the end of March. I am actually starting to consider how to turn business away as I may get overwhelmed. Good problem to have.

5 years ago I was stuck in this spiral of getting up, being unhappy all day until I could get home to drink, passing out, and then rising the next day to repeat. Burning all my sick days with lies like "my back hurts". Wrecking my family relationships. Squandering my time.

What a difference coming to SR and learning how to take charge of my life has made. Yesterday I took in a new client. A very senior career military man. Tough hombre, but he had had a couple of rough years. Hurricane wrecked his house, Father passed, mother had to move in with him, contractor stole his money, and now the IRS was sending him a big bill he couldn't pay. Can you help?

Yes, I can. We put together a strategy to get this man some financial relief. He was so happy when he was leaving my office tears were welling up in his eyes. Somebody was finally going to help.

That somebody was me. I was able to be helpful because you all helped me. My life got better and it allowed me to help others.

I thought you should know how the things we do here extend far beyond the people reading these posts.

Great thing, Nons.

Rolled out of bed, bundled myself up and headed to the lake to see the blood, blue, super moon. Yes, it's freezing out but, I have the clothes for that.

It didn't disappoint. Got to see just the start of the eclipse as it slipped through clouds to go below the horizon.

I was standing on a dock out in the lake and when I turned around I got to see the beautiful sunrise, complete with rosy light clouds, reflected in the glass-smooth lake. Bonus.

That was an inspirational post Nons, you helped me see things more clearly than I could myself in my first few months and I have not forgotten that.

Coincidentally we had someone from the Air Force here today but from the Purchasing Dept, nothing very exciting.

Great post too Trach, I just caught a glimpse of it - it is huge. Amazingly it is not cloudy but in London, at low level it is so hard to see much of the sky.

we didn't get the eclipse - & hence the "blood" bit - here in the UK, so it's only really a "super" moon here, plus the calendar trick to make it "blue". it's very bright though

I have always wanted to travel to work by river taxi or airship Phileas Fogg style.

Yes, low on the horizon shortly after sunset it was massive due to refraction. It is hard to see the horizon in London though.

Congratulations Nons.

I got up too late to see the moon thing. Alarm is set for 630 tomorrow - a day late...
