Is 'no' such a hard concept?

My family is worried about my alcoholism and keeps forcing themselves on me. Whenever I tell them not to they never listen. Right now I'm shaking uncontrollably.

youre pretty fortunate to have your family concerned, which if youre still drinking, i could see them being that way- theyve been through a LOT themselves- someone they love destroying their lives with alcohol is not easy to sit back ,watch, and say nothing about.

Hey Oxford,
They could be worried about you. While I have no experience with this, I am sure someone would.
If this were the case for me, I would stop answering my phone, especially if it was making me shake and my blood pressure rise.

They probably are worried about you.

Maybe quit drinking. (?) The anxiety goes away with some continuous sober time.

Is saying "no" to alcohol a hard concept for you?

You need to see a medical professional or detox center Oxford. That has been suggested to you several times before. Your drinking is the problem, and until you address it nothing will change.

It's good that you are here but you have to be willing to accept the help and suggestions you are getting.

You're shaking uncontrollably, but they're the ones with behavior problems.

In a few weeks, when you feel a little better, be sure to thank them for caring.

Best of Luck on Your Journey.

You can turn him around with one phone call, or even just not answer the door, or tell him you changed your mind.

Considering this has been going on for many years, don't you think it's time to do something to detach from your family and their opinions right now, and get sober before it kills you?

That sounds like a great start. How about calling the delivery driver and telling him to turn around, or refuse the order. You could call your local AA chapter and find a meeting instead.

Your family truly cares about you, but you will never be successfully sober for any length of time until you are ready and do it for YOU. Have you considered suggesting they go to Al-Anon to understand the mind of an alcoholic? If this is the way you see your future, that is your choice and nobody should push you to change that. However, is this what you want? Shakes, cravings, and all other negative aspects of it? This is now my 4th time quitting and the first time I actually believe in my heart that I will NEVER drink again. It's just not worth it and I don't honestly want it. I can actually focus again and feel normal for a change. If you're telling people "no", then you're not ready. I hope one day you will be sick and tired of being sick and tired and choose a better life. You're worth it.

That sounds like another great choice. Remember that you always have a choice in such matters - it might not seem that way sometimes, but at the end of the day you are the only person responsible for your actions.

It seems that your family cares, Oxford. That is a true blessing.

We care, too - very much.

Think about filling out that application. Treatment and recovery could give you the life you deserve - a happy, sober and fulfilling one.

I hope you sent that text Oxford. Your family maybe a little cloying right now but many of us didn't have that support.

Treasure it

Hope you hear from the treatment centre soon
