New to Sober Recovery
Hi! I just discovered this site and am happy I found it. I'm 48 days 'clean and sober ' from alcohol and marijuana and I feel so different now. Mostly good but dealing with life without my old quick fixes can be challenging sometimes. I was in treatment for 21 days and it was the best decision I ever made. I'm a firm believer in 12-step programs. AA kept me sober for 4 years previously but then I stopped going to meetings... many of you know where that can lead. Decided to smoke pot 'occasionally' which turned into smoking 2-3 times a day for about 2 years. Over time, I developed such a tolerance that it wasn't getting me high enough...so started drinking again. After about 4 months, I luckily realized that I was heading down the road towards my old drinking behavior. I knew I had to address it immediately because despite promising myself that I wouldn't use or drink 'tomorrow', I could not stop on my own. I'm very glad to be back at meetings and with people who understand me again. I got a sponsor today and have been smiling ever since and finding this site was the icing on the cake! Glad to join you all and excited to share my experience (and struggles) with you all!

Kim,
The draw of booze weakens but it is there for me.
I am doing so well for me. I am using a...worry list...to track my obsessive thoughts.
I write down the worry then come up w a concrete solution. Looking at the list keeps me grounded.
Whatever it takes.
Today at dinner out w my family i noticed at least 20 people in the same area of the restaurant. Not a single person was drinking.
Thanks.
