Still hits me in the afternoon
I am at day 103 which is HUGE for me. My husband asks me occasionally if I think I’ve beat it for good and I just say I hope so. There are a lot of afternoons when I get that feeling of relief because I know it’s almost time to have that first drink, then realization hits that I don’t drink anymore. I feel panic for a minute, then relief because I can make a choice FINALLY. I can remember twenty years ago sobbing, begging God to help me and I couldn’t turn away from the bottle. I thank God I can now, but I’m scared every time it washes over me, that feeling in the afternoon.... Does it ever go away? I don’t post much, but I read daily, and I thank everyone who has told their story. It helps more than you all know.
It sounds like you're doing great!
Congratulations on 103 days of sobriety!
I expect that you will have those feelings less and less as time goes by. Do you have a recovery program that helps you through each day?

I don’t go to AA or anything similar. I read here, a lot of blogs and books. Otherwise, I just try to change my focus. Do you have a structured recovery program?
Hi boyml27
things got a lot better for me and easier after day 90 - I hope they will for you too...
I really used the heck out of this place tho - the support here is amazing and it really helped me not focus on those thoughts, but focus instead on what I wanted my sober life and the sober me, to be like
