I hate myself!
Good morning Dee. I am feeling ok. Slept slightly better than I thought I would, although I woke frequently had a lot of weird dreams... To be expected I know!
My anxiety has calmed a lot and I am ready (ish) to face the day!
Thanks for asking

Thank you so much for your kind words. This is my second attempt at sobriety and this time, I shall use these forums religiously. They really are a godsend.

I know the feeling, that horrible feeling. So there's nothing bad about your self pity, it shows you about yourself and trust me, that is VERY important.
I right now I'm also super depressed, but you know what? Hey, it will pass. We all know it.
Stay strong.

Do you hate your friends and family members when they make mistakes? Do you tell them you hate them?
How about an internet stranger? If I screw up are you going to post how much you hate me in big bold letters for the world to see?
Most likely you wouldn't even consider being so harsh and lacking in compassion to someone else. Shocking to even consider it!
Show yourself the same courtesy. You deserve it. My educated guess is that it will also make your sober journey easier.
Rootin' for ya!

Thanks for your positive comments. I feel a lot better today. I slept better than I expected and I have had a busy and productive day at work.
I always feel dreadful the day after a binge and yesterday was no exception. I don't want to feel like that ever again. Day 2 almost done!!!

I hear you. I am on day three and i am always looking for an excuse to drink. What is sad is that I can't wait until night time so I can go to sleep and wake up sober. I hope this all passes soon so I can start enjoying my days.

I also had terrible anxiety when I was actively drinking and for about a week afterwards. But my anxiety has barely been noticeable since then. I'm now 48 days sober and I just want you to know that it does get easier! Just keep hanging on a day at a time... you can do this!
What Nonsensical said!
It's tough to stop beating ourselves up. I was taught by my Psychologist:
If you're training your puppy to shake a paw and she only raises her front leg just a little bit, do you yell at her? Punish her? Or do you say "come on girl, come on, good try"
Hope this helps Sunflower

It's so hard to not beat myself up. But I am finding sticking close to this forum is helping me immensely. The advice and support is incredible and it is so good to know I'm not alone.

I'm on day 3... Feeling a little better each day although I am well aware it is very early days. If I could get rid of my anxiety that would be such a relief. Thank you for your kind words
I heard this Pema Chodrin quote today and I thought about you, Sunflower17. (I listen to touchy-feely podcasts in my headset at the gym - don't tell anyone. I think we're supposed to be listening to speed metal or something. )
The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.
I underlined the 'gently'.
Pema rocks, BTW.
And so do you!
