Hi there!
Hi all Newcomer to this site...but not to recovery!! I found this forum accidentally by googling “relapse” heading to a meeting tonight. Really mad at myself for flushing my sobriety down the toilet!!!!! Thx for listening..any tips for self forgiveness?? Man, if the alcoholism doesn’t beat the hell out of us, the shame and guilt sure will.

Hello, I'm also new here though I didn't relapse, just starting out. I also find the guilt and shame crippling. Honestly, it's feeling awful and self-loathing that is my biggest incentive to quit. I would do anything to not feel bad about myself. Good luck to you.
Good to meet you, hopefulife.
We're here to encourage you - you'll never be alone. Let us know how the meeting went. The guilt, self-loathing, and remorse kept me from healing and moving forward for a while. It's only natural to feel that way in the early days, but no one sets out to sabotage themselves. Try to be kind & patient with yourself - things are going to get so much better.

Hopefulife, Welcome!
The shame and guilt will take you right back to drinking. That's what the disease wants. Try to step away from the negative feelings and be proud of yourself for coming here and seeking support.
