Would like to quit
I do not drink everyday, and limit myself to beer on weekends. However, I would like to completely stop drinking. There are many reasons for this:
1. When I start drinking, I do not have any self control to stop. I cannot get myself to stop and keep drinking.
2. I turn nasty when drunk.
3. Off late, when left to myself, I have started drinking everyday, In fact just last night i finished 6 cans of beer ( in the middle of a working week)
4. I have a history of drinking in the family, and would want the cycle to stop with me.
I have successfully quit smoking with the help of a similar message board, and would like to quit drinking too.

Your #1 reason was the exact reason I consider myself an alcoholic. Once I accepted that fact, I was able to work a recovery program. I chose AA as my recovery plan, but there are many other proven programs. Look into the different ones, they all provide support and structure.
Good luck
