Mental Illness and family

There was nothing more to do. We tried everything. ....
My MIL took her life yesterday.
My SO and I currently live in separate homes. We are married and plans for my moving home are in March....
Its sooner now as our lives took a drastic turn.

We were all so close. So damn close until the disorder came into our lives one year ago.
Its been a nightmare for one year.

Prior to that my sister passed 2 years ago and I was reeling from that. Sister passed on Jan 4
MIL passed on Jan 6.
Husbands birthday Jan 9th.

I'm 10 months sober on the 18th. I'm going to try my hardest to keep a level head and keep myself sober.

I'll spare the details as they are not appropriate at all.

I'm in shock.

We have to go there ...6 hours to her home and move her stuff. The scene. Jesus this is not my ******* life right now.

I am so, so sorry for your loss and for the traumatic circumstances.
Please take extra care of yourself, get extra help if you feel it appropriate. I would hate for this complicated bereavement to trip you up when you are doing so well in your sobriety.
My prayers are with you, and your husband.

Our mental health system here in the states is highly questionable. The laws put in place are there for a reason but when there is a person who is so ill and needs serious help that is where it fails. That is where a case by case basis should be taken in to consideration.

She was a dynamic person who deserved a life that was peaceful. Only this last year did her life take a drastic turn for the worse. Due to her fear of hospitalizations and her fear of being mentally ill, she would not accept any help that was being offered to her. Delusional Disorder sits right next to schizophrenia. The disorder is serious and requires professional help, meds and long term care. This disorder is complex and very very severe.

She was finally out of a mania. She was attempting stability. Her family was coming back around to allow her in to their lives after the mass destruction that took place. I was just talking to my husband about needing to make our way down to her and take her out to lunch. Show her that we are still here and that we are family. Her psychosis created so much damage with her family that we had to hold her at arms length as we made our way through the illness. It was scary. It was detrimental. It was harmful to everyone.

Then..............
She just could not go on anymore.
