Feel like crap. Week two.
Hello,
New here.
I'm two weeks into it and feel like hell.
Can't sleep, appetite is gone and grumpy.
Also noticed my tremors came back yesterday.
I have no craving at all. Just anxious to get on with it. Any ideas?
Thanks

It can take your brain a long time to heal just hang in there and keep your head down.
Well done on 2 weeks.
I found what helped me was building a good routine of regular meals, plenty of fluids, gentle exercise (walking was my choice), a set bedtime, also plenty of contact with other people in the same situation.
My body gently started to recover from the traumas I had been putting it through.
Takes time but is very much worth it.
Hang in there.

Yup, on Dr.s advice I went through the 3 day inpatient detox. It wasn't as miserable as I thought it should be. Shove you full of Ativan and send you to bed for three days.
It can take some months, with occasional "flashbacks" of cloudy thinking,
being tired, etc. but within five or six weeks I was largely feeling very good
and sleeping through the night.
We have literally poured toxin in our body for years.
Once we stop, it moves from emergency storage to removal & detox and repair.
This just takes time, or did for me.
I did what others above suggested, rested when I could and needed to,
plenty of exercise as I respond well to that, and I went on a paleo / keto
diet to get rid of my carb addiction (since alcohol processes as carbs,
I really craved sugar / ice cream, fruit juice as replacement carbs a lot).
Other things I did:
Plenty of hydration--herbal tea in bulk hot or iced, sparkling water,
water with lemon or lime, coffee in reasonable amounts, etc.
Took a quality vitamin / mineral blend, especially B complex and D as those seriously deplete in us drinkers.
Whole, healthy organic food when I could afford it. No junk meat or processed.
Yoga, sweating, showers all helped also. Yoga especially-
Getting out in nature, stress reduction, short course of therapy to process
some of the issues actually underlying my decision to drink.
Getting out in Nature, being in peaceful places with quiet time.
All that was really helpful and speeded up the process.
You'll feel great before you know it!

It took me about 9 months to feel normalish for an extended time. I had a lot of on and off withdrawal symptoms for quite awhile, including shakes, eye twitching, brain fog
The eye twitching got better when I doubled down on vitamins. I had a nasty last withdrawal and since then I know kindling and PAWS to be true.
I also got really sick for a couple of weeks as did most of my class at about 4 to 8 weeks. I still don't understand that, it seems common tho.
Every road to recovery has a different timeline. 2 weeks is very early so don't feel discouraged, it does get better, and most felt better earlier in sobriety than me.
Any concerns though, a Dr. visit may help.
Best to you. Going through the discomfort and emotions of getting sober are REALLY worth it in the end
