I need some support
Usually my cravings come on at night but they started today in the afternoon. I’m on my 6th day and have held off the last 3 hours of cravings but we are getting together with in laws this evening and I know there will be drinking and we have had a tumultuous relationship so that hasn’t helped any. No one else thinks I have any issues with drinking so this is all me.
The best way I can describe how I feel is weird and shaky (not the shaky when you first go through withdrawal but like an adrenaline). Is this normal? I haven’t felt like this before, even when I stopped for a week my last try. I may be posting on here a lot tonight if I can get awah from the socializing. This is my first real test this time.
The cravings have gotten stronger and aren’t really relenting.

If you pray or meditate, then this is a good time to ask god to help you through this challenge. Do you have to show up early and "happy hour"? you can come up with plenty of excuses not to drink. Not feeling well, need to get up early, just don't feel like it, etc.
try and eat something readygo? often helps?
some more good ideas here:

If this evening is worrying you, can you get out of it?
Would you go if you were ill?
If you absolutely can' get out of it - make a plan to deal with all the common situations you might encounter... some good ideas here

above all - have an escape plan...
you may not need it but it's better to have one than none at all.

Take the pressure off by being true to yourself

I hope you can make it a short visit with the in-laws. I think eating is a good plan, taking a quick break if you can. Do whatever you can to get through the evening. And, we're here for you.

Thanks everyone!
Thanks! I think I’ll tell them I’m not feeling well, that could actually give me a lot of Outs for bathroom breaks or if I need to leave early 😉👍🏼 I also have some things to suck on to keep me busy. I’m praying this won’t be as hard as I’m worried about! 😬

I’ll listen to that song right before! I’ve found a couple really good ones people gave mentioned on there. My money spent on alcohol could go towards songs on iTunes 😉
