There's some pretty interesting and sad documentaries on youtube about the addiction problem on Indian reservations. Here's a short one I watched 6mo ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvM0rKpRi8g
I was in rehab that was fundamentally based on 12 step recovery. Without offending you (I hope) it just didn't sit well for me. I have never liked group think or for people to think for me. I feel I have to make my own mind up about what is best for me. I think AA focused on particular things that I found unnecessary such as that you have to admit you are an alcoholic, or that you have to have a higher and that if you don't succeed it is because you haven't followed the steps properly.
Sorry but it really wasn't for me.
Currently I'm going to SMART meetings, well I've been to one lol I also start a PSI (psychosocial intervention) group on Monday, not quite sure what to expect from it to be honest. I also go to a breakfast morning at the recovery centre on a Thursday which is great as they make you a breakfast sandwich and cups of tea are available and you can just sit and chat or stare into space like I do haha Still not that great at socialising, I feel dead awkward actually ha!
Then I'm planning on taking antabuse just as a safety net for a period of time and I'm planning on doing a lot of hiking
Do you do much apart from AA?

I've heard of SMART and am intrigued /interested in other ways.
I have an amazing meeting I go to Sunday morning, it's non traditional AA, meaning we cross talk, popcorn chat and if someone has something they need to talk about, we talk about it. I love it!
I don't have a sponsor and haven't worked the steps in depth with one, but I work my program for me!
I YouTube painting, and found a few interesting methods I'd love to try, flip cup, pour and traditional but I'm not good at drawing so I've gott some books on how to draw to hopefully help in that area. My biggest downfall is patience, so I'm working on that.
You draw? That's a beautiful talent so is music. I'd love to sign, I'm not a shy person and feel I'd have a wonderful stage presence I feel the world should see, I also need to learn to put my egos in check, it likes to strike when I am feeling really good about me and life. Haha.
I'm a spiritual person with a great energy and I think my message is worth listening to, if one ever wanted to. And that's just what I'd put into music!! Strength, experience and hope.
But I'm terrible at signing and playing music
Keep drawing!!!

This is sad on so many levels.
Here, let's put 4 stores right outside the dry reservation to continue to feed the addict. However, if the closest store was 25 miles, the addict will still find a way there. But I feel the placement was stratigically placed.
