Weekender 04-08 January 2018
A few days ago I was comiserating with the North Americans on the thread due to the record low temperatures you were suffering. I would offer them to all you Aussies out there who are enduring the opposite experience, 47C or 117F does not bear thinking about. Take care.
Everyones experiences are different, if your worried you should seek a medical proffessionals advice.
Hey guys
Just checking in from Wilderness First Responder Course
Learned so much so far can't even list, but from range of
building splints, clearing spinal injury, severe and mild wound care,
field diagnosis, putting someone on backboard and litter,
and so on
today we learn hypothermia packaging, allergy / anaphylaxis,
improvising litters. . .
I'm the oldest person there--even older than instructors.
And I have no medical training
Am I enjoying myself?
You bet, but the 11 hour days are tough--really cold and raining yesterday
during simulation part of the time.
Would not have been possible in any way, shape or form mentally
or physically while drinking.
I've also learned the very valuable linguistic fact that the word "dude" now applies
both equally to males and females here in the U.S.
This is progress--unmarkedness is a sign of true equality
Put that one in your pipe Harvey W. et al and smoke it

At my restaurant we are constantly on the staff to not walk up to a table of men and women and say "How are you "guys" doing." We are a classy place afterall. 9 times out of 10 it's the girls calling the ladies guys. Some of those older ladies do get offended though.
Last day of the weekend for me, I had a long one this time as I usually work Saturdays.
Tomorrow marks 11 months, today we have a Holiday party for our bar, I'm going to help setup and then running for the hills leaving my wife in safe hands and me away from free flowing booze and bar staff hitting it up.
Trach, I thought it was , "How're all y'all doing?" Right? 'Y'all' is singular, 'all y'all' is plural. Good to hear from you, did you suffer that snowstorm?
Around these parts it's, "Yous guys." Or simply, 'yous'....
"Are yous going down da hosey tonight?" Translation: Are the many of you attending a function at the fire house social hall this evening?
Hawk, sounds like you are making life happen.
Keep up the good work everyone.

Hawkeye your course sounds fascinating. Hats off to you for volunteering. I think it is good that there is at least one mature adult there as experience is as important as cardio vascular fitness.
Personally I don't use either word but I have heard "dudette" used for women before. I had not thought about it but I guess it is not pc. (not sure really) I'm a 57 year old guy but I work in London so I usually respond in a slightly snarky way when young people(always young men) call me "bruv" or "blud"or "geeze" or any of the other innumerable informal greetings Londoners seem to use these days. I prefer "Mr"
LB/Trach whassup dudes?
Good day at work today although I have my suspisions that my boss has had a botox injection. Either that or he has been drinking embalming fluid.

One thing I noticed been a non Frenchman living in France is I have become slangless. It just doesn't sound right slang in French with an Irish accent.
Leaky bums, any photos Sao ?
Take care all.

I just never took to the life of Brian. All my friends and family love it but the Monty python stuff just never worked for me. Weird am I?
I will admit I have the full box set of Fawlty towers and enjoy it from time to time. And seen as we are on English comedy I'm a fan of last of the summer wine and only fools and horses. I grew up with these shows. Nothing like the English wit
